These duplex strainers are heavy duty fabricated Industrial strainers often referred to as duplex basket strainers

The Type DU56 fabricated heavy duty duplex strainers are the solution to continuous operation when downtime is not an option.  The duplex assembly features two Type 56 strainers with modified inlet and outlet nozzle arrangements.  The strainers can be skid-mounted complete with valves, as shown above, or specially designed, and shipped individually to accommodate field piping arrangements.

Duplex strainers are installed to protect compressors, pumps, meters, and other downstream equipment by removing potentially damaging solids from liquids, gas, and steam. The large internal basket offers a low pressure drop with a large contaminant holding capacity.

Applications include gas, chemicals, process liquids, liquid hydrocarbons, water, steam, and others in the refining, chemical, petrochemical, pulp and paper, and related industries.  These fabricated strainers are extremely robust and provide heavy duty service to industries where a large basket is required for maximum containment of solid contaminants.

Standard material for the duplex strainer body and flanges is carbon steel with 304 stainless steel basket.  Some available materials are 300 series stainless steels (all or wetted parts only), Monel®400, Nickel 200, Hastelloy®B and C276, Inconel®, Incoloy®, and chrome moly.  Except for chrome moly, the basket can be manufactured in any of these materials.  The valves are per specification.

The internal perforated strainer basket is manufactured from heavy materials and seam welded for maximum strength.

A complete selection of perforated metal and wire cloth is available for various openings and retention requirements, and in many alloy materials. Typical strainer basket openings are 80 mesh (0.0070”opening) for gas service, 40 mesh (0.0150” opening) for steam, and perforated with 1/8” diameter holes on 3/16” centers for process liquids. Strainer baskets will have perforated support for most wire mesh sizes.  Wedge wire baskets can also be provided.

The top cover of each strainer is available as a bolted blind flange with lifting handle or davit, or a quick-opening closure for easier and faster access for basket cleaning.
